About quality
The firm SanSwiss consistently pays attention to the ensuring of the good quality of its products. Therefore, we have directly established, at the production plant Jičín, our own testing laboratory where we perform all necessary tests.
Standard ČSN EN 14428 „specified requirements for shower screens for use in households” which ensures that the product installed according to the instructions of the producer will have satisfactory properties if it is used in the stated manner.
(Note: For the purpose of this standard, the term “household” includes use in hotels, student hostels, hospitals and similar buildings with the exception of cases when special medical measures are necessary.)
4.2 Cleaning ability
During testing by a visual inspection of the surface of the parts of the shower screen which are accessible during use and cleaning, there must not be any sharp corners, edges or burrs.
4.4.2 Resistance against corrosion
All parts must consist of materials which are resistant to corrosion, or they must be protected against corrosion.
All protection against corrosion must correspond to the respective requirements specified in the European and international standards. For example:
- The minimum adhesion of the coat for sprayed or freshly coated surfaces must correspond to the value of grid-like cut <=2 during testing according to EN ISO 2409;
- The minimum average thickness of the coat on the aluminium must be of class AA 8 during testing according to one of methods mentioned in ISO 7599. In no case the minimum local thickness may be smaller than 80 % of the minimum average thickness.
4.4.5 Resistance
During testing of the shower screens according to point 5.5, there must not be any worsening of function after 20,000 open-close cycles.
4.4.6 Stability
During testing according to point 5.6, shower screens must be able to resist energy or force representing the impact of a human body on a large area of impact (e.g. shock by arm, fall) without any worsening of function which could result in injury to the user.
4.4.7 Holding of water
During testing according to point 5.7, the shower screen must hold water. Some small water drops on the outside area holding water are acceptable.
5.5 Resistance
- The shower screen is installed according to the installation instructions of the producer.
- The mechanism for automatic opening and closing of the door is installed on the opening edge of the door, in a stable place. This ensures the keeping of a stable speed (15 ± 5) cycles/min with doors opened/closed at the distance (70 ± 10) % within the range of opening the door.
- Doors pass 20 000 opening/closing cycles.
- After the performing of the test, it is checked whether the door functions correctly.
5.6 Stability
- The shower screen is installed according to the installation instructions of the producer.
- A test is performed using a body for impact testing connecting with the inside of the shower screen at the level of energy mentioned in the table. The impact body must affect on each panel and/or door in its geometric centre.
- Each worsening of function which could cause any injury to the user is checked.
5.7 Holding of water
- The shower screen is installed according to the installation instructions of the producer.
- Tests A and B must be performed with the use of the showerhead with the temperature of the water not exceeding 38 °C.
- The flow is set for (11 ± 1) l/min.
Test A:
- The spraying is performed for 1 minute on the width and the height of all doors/panels of the shower screen at the angle of 90 °C to their surface from the distance of 30 cm with the use of the testing showerhead. The spraying is restricted to the area up to 30 cm under the upper edge of the door/panel (panels) and 30 cm above the lower edge of the door/panel (panels).
Test B:
- The shower screen is installed according to the installation instructions of the producer on reinforced wall 50 mm x 50 mm ,or in a bathtub designed for a shower unit with the minimum depth of the bathtub being 50 mm. If the shower screen is designed for installation in particular bathtubs for shower unit, this type of bathtub must be used for the shower unit.
- The testing showerhead is mounted at the height of 1900 mm at the distance 300 mm from the centre of the door hole.
- The showerhead is directed vertically in a downward direction when the door is closed and the floor of the shower is sprayed for 3 (+1/-0) min.
ZA.2.2 ES Declaration of Conformity certificate
If the terms of this standard are fulfilled, the producer or his representative must prepare and store an EC Declaration of Conformity which authorizes the producer to use CE mark.
